||||||||||||
The North Cotswold Branch of CAMRA in conjunction with the
Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway are holding their 10th Spring
Ale and Steam Weekend at Winchcombe and Toddington
Stations on the 19th and 20th May 2018 We will again be splitting the beer sales
between Winchcombe and Toddington Stations. The bar on both stations will be open from
10:30 until 19:00 at Winchcombe, or 17:45 at Toddington
on Saturday 19th, and from 10:30 until 17:00 (at both stations) on
Sunday 20th. Opening on Sunday will be subject to beer
availability. 40
Beers in total, 28 at Winchcombe, and 12 at Toddington. Plus
Hot & Cold Food with Soft Drinks The beers at Toddington
will have a Wessex theme. Camping is available. See below for
details. Train Times & Entry A ticket for travel or a platform ticket
(£2 at Winchcombe, £1 at Toddington) on the day is
required for entry to the event. You will then need to buy a standard
souvenir glass for an additional £2. If you return your glass a refund of £1
will be given (The other £1 goes towards washing the glass etc before it can
be re-used), You will also need to purchase a Beer Token Card(s) for the
value of £10. (No cash sales at the bar). Hence a complete normal bar package costs
£12. Any unused tokens can be exchanged back for cash, or donated to charity You only need to buy a bar package once,
which you can use at either bar. Extra token cards can be purchased as
required. An enhanced Red
timetable will be in operation on Saturday. The first train from Cheltenham
Racecourse leaves at 10:05 (Railcar), and from Broadway at 11:20 (Steam). The
last train back from Toddington to Cheltenham is at
18:00 (Railcar), and the last train back to Broadway from Winchcombe is at
16:36 (Steam). The normal Red
timetable will be in operation on Sunday. The first train from Cheltenham
Racecourse leaves at 11:05, and from Broadway at 11:20. For further information on train times
please visit http://www.gwsr.com Limited Car Parking Please note that parking at Winchcombe is
very limited and it is more fun travelling there by train. (Ample parking available
at Cheltenham Race Course and at Toddington
Station) Impact of Broadway Station
Opening This is the first Ale & Steam weekend
with the railway extended to Broadway.
Presently parking near the station at Broadway is not available, but there are
car parks in the town. Please select
this link for details. There are no present plans to have a
bar at Broadway Station at any Ale & Steam event. The attendance at this event may be another
record due to extra rail traffic as a result of the Broadway opening, so
please come early if you can. Volunteers If you would like to help at this event,
please click here
for a helpers form. Please print this, fill it in by hand, and scan it. Then
please forward the completed scanned form as an attachment to our Webmaster
Peter Rowe. These will then be passed on to our Festivals Director. Further Information This year
we have a new Festivals Director, Alan
McLellan. His contact details will be published
here shortly. Camping The camp
site is at Manor Farm, Market Lane, Greet. GL54 5BJ. Tents are £6 per person
per night. Campervans and caravans are £16 per night to include use of one of
