Pub Walk (84) Saturday 7th
April 2018, from the Snowshill Arms, Snowshill.

North Cotswold Branch of the Campaign for
Real Ale

Seventeen walkers including a few
grandchildren turned up at Snowshill for
the 84th Saturday Pub Walk. After ordering lunch and the usual pub
photo (Photo 1) we set off right
from the car park and turned left uphill past the church (Photo 2) then left at the road junction now heading North.
Past the National Trust Snowshill Manor we
took a footpath on our left at the NT entrance. Wonderful views ahead as we
dropped downhill (Photo 3) past a
very proud Cotswold Lion with two recently born lambs (Photo 4).
At the first gate left and continuing
downhill to the bottom of the valley. Ascending a muddy path through woods we
emerged and regrouped in the open (Photo
5) At the top of the field we turned left and South on a track past Great
Brockhampton Farm then turned left heading East downhill again (Photo 6). Past a small lake and prize
rare breed black sheep on our left (Photo
7) before emerging back at the road turning left back to the Church (Photo 8)
A delightful short circular walk in one of
the prettiest Cotswold Valleys less than 4 miles and back to a fine Donnington
pub for lunch.
Four beers on offer BB, SBA, Gold and On the
Nose all in great condition with an excellent lunch (Photo 9)
The Snowshill Arms is now in the very capable
hands of two sisters Jackie Spear and Isobell Barr who carried on the tenancy
from their father hence the revisit for the second pub walk here by North
Cotswold CAMRA.
The next official walk is the 85th
of the series on Saturday 6th
Oct after the busy Beer Festival Season.
