Pub Walk (62) Saturday 7th
November 2015, from the Bell Inn, Morerton in Marsh
|
North Cotswold Branch of the Campaign for
Real Ale
|
The 62nd Pub walk incurred a delayed start due to heavy rain
in the morning so we met at 1200hrs at the Bell (Photo 1) then walked after lunch once the weather had cleared. We
started from the High street with a good turnout of 12 despite the weather
delay. 3 tables reserved for the group in the reopened Bell proved a good
experience with attentive staff and copious quantities of Prescott Hill Climb
which proved the most popular of 5 on offer. (Photos 2 & 3)
The weather had cleared as we set off from the Budgens
car park on a route devised by Martin Jones who led us South down the back
street to the West of the High Street. Very soon we picked up the only footpath
heading West across seven fields on a well defined but muddy in places path.
Ahead we could see Batsford Park but as we reached a
wood and crossing of paths we turned right now heading NE with Batsford to our left as we walked parallel to this fine
Estate.
Crossing 6 fields we came to a road where we turned left along the road
for a short distance then picked up a lane to our right at the cross roads.
Easy walking now heading East until just before the railway we turned right and
now S on the Diamond Way across 4 fields until reaching the road opposite the
Cricket Club where we turned left back to Budgens. (Photos 4 to 7)
A great start to Dec and thanks to Martin for rearranging the route to maximise the dry walking resulting in a most enjoyable day.
Next walk
No 63 organised by Roger and Martin from the Hare
& Hounds at Fosse Cross. on 5th Dec.
