Pub Walk (51) Saturday 12th
April 2014, from the Harvest Home, Greet.

Real Ale

21 members and friends met up at the Harvest
Home Inn at Greet for the 51st walk the second one at the Harvest Home (Photo 1) Extra numbers created by the
first visit to Goffs
Brewery on the return leg organised by BLO John Stocks. The Harvest Home
an Enterprise Inn is close to GWR
Winchcombe Station and hosts the Thai food caterers recently displaced from the
Pheasant Inn at Toddington. Proprietors Tracy and Kieron were on hand to take
our food orders in the pub before setting off and we noticed a fine array of
beers (Photo 2)
Turning left along the road towards Gretton
we then turned right onto a footpath at Littleworth. No sun but dry with the
ground thankfully dry after the earlier Spring wet weather. We headed in an
Easterly direction passing some curious goats at Mill Farm (Photo 3) passing to the North before
crossing the Toddington Road at Ireley Farm then under the GWR railway shortly
after. (Photo 4)
Emerging at Salter’s lane and resting (Photo 5) before turning right heading
SW towards Winchcombe. Downhill along this stretch across several fields (Photo 6) with the thoughts of a brewery
rest ahead. At the Winchcombe road we crossed over heading North along the
route of the River Isbourne on a footpath across three fields into the Trading
Estate and Goffs
Brewery (Photo 7 and 8)
John Stocks awaited with Head Brewer Nick to introduce the history and
operation at Goffs. (Photo 9) A
barrel of White Knight was available for the visitors to pour their own quickly
demonstrated by Branch Chairman Roger Price (Photo 10) and a vote of thanks given to Nick for an excellent tour
and talk (Photo 11)
Some of the ladies had already left towards
the pub but we followed turning left out of the Estate then left again at the
next junction (Photo 12) and
checking that all the party had followed from the Brewery (Photo 13). An excellent Lunch awaited and most sampled the Thai
food and Betty Stoggs (Photo 14)
Many Thanks to
Nick and John Stocks for the Brewery tour and the Harvest Home’s Tracy &
Kieron.
