Pub Walk (106) Saturday 1^st October 2022, from the Green Dragon, Cockleford

North Cotswold Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale

6 walkers turned up in dry weather for the 106^th Saturday Pub Walk at the Green Dragon Cockleford. First time for a walk at this popular free house which is outside our North Cotswold CAMRA Branch area.

We set off left NW from the car park towards Cowley after taking the customary pub photo (Photo 1). You pass the Girl Guides HQ on your right (Photo 2). At the first bend on the road, take the footpath on the left. Then cross over to the opposite footpath at the next road. Then join another road heading W uphill past several houses. At the next right hand bend carry straight on to a footpath in a wood up to Hill Barn. (Photo 3). Turn right to a Road then left uphill taking the next footpath heading across a field in a SW direction. Skirt a wood to your left then left at a crossing of paths, now heading SE across two fields. At a track turn left and shortly a sharp right and left following a fence on your right towards a wood. You are heading E on a narrow path between a hedge and a fence.

On this walk we could hear the local Hunt and at the next junction we encountered the hunt (Photo 4). Left at the road downhill through woods past a footpath then next right on a footpath following the edge of the woods to a lake following the S side of the lake. Carry on through Wards Wood in an Easterly direction avoiding any other side paths. Past the Guides training obstacle course arriving at the Green Dragon car park rear entrance

Next time Walk 107 on Sat 5^th November at the Fossebridge Inn for a new walk along the Colne Valley, 1015 for 1030 hrs start.
