Ale & Steam Weekend Helpers Trip – Skittles Match

North Cotswold Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale

Fourteen Ale and Steam festival helpers were at the Salutation, Ham for the skittles social on Saturday 25th June 2011. Everyone travelled on the free minibus, piloted by Wayne, except Tony Sharpe who was spending the weekend at his nearby weekend woodland retreat.

On arrival we were met by mine hosts Don and Sue and a selection of six fine ales, including a newcomer, Original brewed by Green Room Ales at Keltek Brewery. Most of the party then had lunch before the skittles started.

The skittles was originally going to be a match against Dursley branch, but many of their number had prior commitments so it was decided to split into two teams. Dursley sub-branch chairman Chris Arrowsmith joined in proceedings and two other local members came to welcome us.

The match was closely contested but the top scoring lady and man were both on the same side which tipped the scales in their favour, Nicky Harvey and Trevor Carter winning the respective prizes.

At the end of a pleasant afternoon we headed back home.
