Three Gloucestershire Pubs link up for Community Pubs Week

North Cotswold Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale

Three of the nine pubs adopted for Community Pubs Week by active CAMRA members Martyn Herbert and Roger Price linked together to host a very successful Safari Evening on 21st February 2008. This involved three Gloucestershire Pubs in the North Cotswold area, The Royal Oak at Andoversford, The Plough Inn at Cold Aston and The famous Mousetrap Inn at Bourton on the Water. Twelve CAMRA members enjoyed a starter at the Oak with 5 Real Ales, a main course at the Plough with 3 Real Ales and a sweet at the Mousetrap with 2 Real Ales. The most popular food combination was, Thai Crab Cakes, Pork Plate with a confit garlic baby onion & apple jus, and Apple & plum Crumble with custard. The Community Pub Week packs previously delivered were deployed with promotional material and in the case of the Oak they also hosted a quiz the same evening in conjunction with Sharps Brewery which was very well attended. The pubs involved were sufficiently close to minimise travel time between each and the  programme was maintained by pre ordering of the respective courses by Peter White North Cotswold CAMRA Chairman whose day job as an accountant ensured the correct payment before moving on to the next pub. All three pubs have provided excellent service throughout 2008 and share common support for locally produced real ale including Donnington, North Cotswold, Stanway, Battledown, Goffs and other Gloucestershire beers.
